About Mrs. Peters
My name is Mandy Peters and I teach fifth grade English and Language Arts and Social Studies. I grew up in Mount Olive, North Carolina. I was a Teaching Fellow at The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and I love cheering for the Tar Heels. I have taught in North Carolina and Georgia for a combined total of 13 years. I've had the opportunity to teach many grades and subjects throughout my career, but teaching Reading and Writing is definitely my favorite. I've been trained in Reading Recovery, Literacy Collaborative and in Reading and Writing Workshops through the Teachers College at Columbia University. I am also certified to teach Academically Gifted students.
I am thrilled to be teaching at Leesville and look forward to an exciting year.
My husband, three children, our dog and I live in Raleigh, and all three of our children attend Leesville! In my spare time, I enjoy playing tennis, working out at the gym, spending time with family and friends, and reading.
I love volunteers! If you or a family member are cleared to volunteer in Wake County Public Schools (you can register in the school library) and have an interest in reading with children or helping them with original writing pieces, please contact me. We would love to have you!
